There is a silly question in physics that many think is unanswered. "If the tree fell, and there was nobody around to hear it... would there still be the sound?". This is silly question, because it presumes that there must be an observer for an event to happen. There doesn't have to. If you are not home, can an earth quake destroy it? Of course it can. You will come home to see the results... Just like an earth quake doesn't need your permission or audience to happen and destroy, so the sound wave of the falling tree doesn't need to be heard to travel from that tree...
